For the longest time, we thought salmon was difficult to cook! It always seemed to come out too dry when we baked it in the oven.

But after my mom cooked for us during my postpartum recovery, we discovered a simple oven temperature and cooking time that gives us perfectly cooked salmon every time! Even better, this recipe works straight from frozen, so there’s no need to remember to defrost the salmon ahead of time making it an easy option for a weeknight dinner.

Frozen or Fresh Salmon?

There are two ways to make this recipe:

Frozen Salmon: This is how we usually make it. Follow the recipe below and cook the salmon straight from frozen. It requires less preparation, which makes it perfect for an easy dinner.

Fresh or Defrosted Salmon: Cook for 20 minutes to start, then check for doneness. If it needs more time, continue cooking in 3-minute increments until it’s done to your liking.

Keep in mind that cooking times can vary depending on the thickness of your salmon, your oven, and even the specific type or brand of salmon you use. The cooking time below is what works perfectly for our oven and the frozen salmon we buy from Sprouts.

Once you find the cooking time that works best for your salmon and oven, write it down and you’ll never have to guess again!
